The waterproofing system included the installation of CleanSpace liner, a 20 mil reinforced vapor barrier, regrading of the crawl space to assist in proper drainage, and a SmartDrain to alert the homeowner of any future plumbing leaks or water intrusions. Our team also installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to control the humidity and moisture in the crawl space, and an EverLast door to help seal out the humid outside air.

Paul can now rest assured that his crawl space is protected and will remain dry!

Moisture Causing Wood Rot in Savannah Home

During replacement of their HVAC ducts, a homeowner in Savannah, GA discovered extreme moisture issues in the crawl space that was causing wood rot, sub-floor damage and a sinking floor. Some of the beams were black with tufts of white mold growing and the wood was like a sponge. The homeowner previously had their HVAC company install a vapor barrier, but they were still experiencing moisture problems.

Our team regraded the crawl space, installed drainage matting, CleanSpace liner, SilverGlo wall insulation. They also installed a SmartSump to address any future water intrusion and a SaniDry dehumidifier to control the humidity and moisture in the crawl space.

The homeowner can now rest easy that the moisture issues are resolved and won't worry about subfloor damage due to water and humidity in the crawl space.

Eliminate Musty Odors in Savannah, GA

For far too long, Betty R. of Savannah, GA had been suffering from nasty, musty odors in her home caused by mold growing in her crawl space. The aromas were so pungent that Betty purchased three dehumidifiers for her first floor to combat the hostile mold problem. The equipment ran all hours of the day with no avail. Betty continued to suffer from to the stinky smells, and her health began to suffer.

The dehumidifiers removed moisture from the air. However, they were not able to address the cause of her problems, the mold and moisture in her crawl space. Betty heard of Lowcountry Basement Systems from her neighbor who had similar problems until we fixed them, but it took Betty a little over a year to call to us.

Why?

She assumed that her problem would cost just as much as her neighbors, so she scrimped and saved for a year. When our inspector went to her house, Betty was ready with check-in-hand, but she was surprised to find out that the solution to her mold problem wouldn’t cost as much as her neighbors’. Her crawl space was 40 percent smaller. Consequently, she would not need as much labor as her neighbor, bringing down the quoted price.

Betty's problem was solved when we installed a complete encapsulation system in her crawl space. She had the entire area covered with Cleanspace liner. SilverGlo paneling was installed along the crawl space walls; a Sani Dry dehumidifier collected moisture in the air, then pumped it out from under the home. A sump pump was also installed to remove standing water.

When she found out that she could have called a year ago and financed the project, she felt like kicking herself for not calling us sooner.

Fireplace Too Heavy for Subfloor

Lloye, W. of Pooler, Ga noticed the floor around his fireplace was not level with the rest of his living room floor – it was sinking. The weight of his newly added hearth was too much for the subfloor to bear and the joists started cracking.

Lloye called foundation repair experts, Lowcountry Basements, and asked to have an inspector come to his house. Brian Townsel, System Design Specialist, inspected the home, inside and out. Brian recommended adding support to the subfloor with the PowerBrace™ System and Smart Jacks to support the steel beams.

The Lowcountry Basement Systems team installed 12 Smart Jacks and 60 ft. of PowerBrace™ under Lloye’s home to support his subfloor. The project was completed in two days with all the debris removed. Lloye was able to keep his floor and his fireplace.

Sinking Foundation Lifted Back into Place, Savannah, GA

Sereen S. of Savannah, GA had a problem with his foundation. His drywall developed a long crack, and his hardwood floors were sinking in some places. Beneath his feet, the subfloor was experiencing many problems.

After researching the problems online, Sereen found Lowcountry Basement Systems and made an appointment for an inspector to go to his house. Billy Brandenburg went to Sereen’s house and documented his findings. Billy saw the floors sagging in the crawl space; he also noted the cracked and failing joist that were no longer supporting the subfloor.

Sereen’s foundation needed additional support, explained Billy. The floor was sinking, and the sinking action caused the walls to pull apart, cracking the drywall. Billy showed Sereen the photos he took in the crawl space. Billy designed a custom long-term foundation solution Sereen’s home. After it was installed Sereen noticed a difference right away. Three support posts, SmartJacks, and two PowerBraces were installed to provide the house with the support it needed. Lowcountry Basement Systems also installed new joists to replace the broken ones.

Terry told Kris Evens, a Lowcountry Basement Systems inspector, that he wanted the problem fixed permanently. Terry also recognized a significant challenge for the installation team, the crawl space was very short. There wouldn’t be much room to do the work.

Kris identified the two locations where SmartJacks could be installed to solve the problem. The Lowcountry Basement Systems team was able to squeeze in the crawl space and do the needed work. Terry has thrilled with the result and the professionalism of the team!

Susan C. of Savannah, GA almost tripped over her driveway one afternoon. She quickly became concerned about the long crack in her driveway and didn’t want any of her guests to fall. She had heard about Lowcountry Basement Systems concrete lifting and leveling services from a friend and gave us a call.

Brian Hunter, one of our inspectors went to Susan’s home and looked at her driveway. It was installed in 1984, had a long crack through it and was resurfaced a few years ago. Brian recommended lifting the concrete with PolyLevel, a high-density polyurethane formula. Small holes were drilled into the concrete where PolyLevel was then injected beneath the slab. Within seconds the concrete was lifted back into place.

Susan was thrilled with the results! She parked her car on her driveway 15 minutes after the project was complete!

Guy W. of Warner Robins, GA had a brick front porch that was a mess! Guy and his wife were embarrassed to have any family or friends over because it was a safety hazard for anyone to even get to the front door. Our inspector, Brian Hunter, suggested that Guy have PolyLevel installed to attempt to lift the slab and to push the porch back towards the home. PolyLevel, a high-density polyurethane, was injected through a dime-sized hole in the concrete. It then expanded beneath the concrete slab to lift it back to its desired height.

This project only took one day to complete, and the homeowner was absolutely thrilled. His porch is no longer a mess, and he was eager to invite some friends and family over for dinner!

Brian Townsel, one of our inspectors, went to Theresa’s home and suggested installing three SmartJacks and a PowerBrace. Brian noted a long stretch of joists in the crawl space that were sagging, causing walls to sink and drywall to crack. The SmartJacks would lift and support the galvanized PowerBrace under the sagging joists, lifting them up to support the home.

After giving Lowcountry Basement Systems a call, Tim felt better knowing the experts would come look at his home.

During the inspection of Tim’s home, the inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems asked Tim about the recent hurricane. Tim said the crawl space had received between three and four inches of water. Brian Townsel, the inspector explained what water can do to a structure of a home and he recommended encapsulating the crawl space.

Flood Vents Installed in Savannah, GA

Spencer E. of Savannah, GA contacted Lowcountry Basement Systems after he became worried his home might flood from the approaching hurricane. Spencer was concerned about the abundant rainfall and high tides, he didn't want his home to be washed away or damaged by a flood.

Lowcountry Basement Systems' inspector, Brian Hunter, went to Spencer's home and reviewed his flood insurance declaration and elevation certificate. After an inspection of the home, Brian suggested that Spencer have Smart Vents installed on his garage door.

Brian explained the vents would allow water to enter the garage after the flood waters reached four inches. The Smart Vent design allows water pressure to be equalized on both sides of the foundation wall (so water must be on the inside too), protecting his foundation. Smart Vents are the most advanced protection on the market and are ICC-ES certified that protect houses and buildings during floods by preventing water pressure buildup that can destroy walls and foundations.

In one day, the Smart Vents were installed and Spencer's home was protected. Spencer said he felt a lot better with the hurricane approaching.

Cold and Sagging Floors in Savannah, GA

Marianne B. of Savannah, GA became worried about her foundation after noticing her hardwood floors were very cold to walk on and were sagging in specific spots. When she looked in her crawl space she noticed that the subfloor insulation was falling. The entire crawl space was a mess! She was very impressed with the numerous customer video testimonials and five-star reviews, so she called and made a free appointment for herself.

Lowcountry Basement Systems sent Dustin Farthing to Marianne's home to inspect the crawl space and find a solution for her chilly floors. He suggested encapsulating the crawl space with our Complete CleanSpace System. The encapsulation system consists of the CleanSpace moisture barrier, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, and a sump pump to evacuate any water in the crawl space. The SaniDry Sedona is a dehumidifier that maintains the proper humidity level in the crawl space to prevent moisture and microbial growth. With the encapsulation system, Marianne won't have to worry about having cold feet anymore!

Crack in Foundation Concerns Pooler, GA Homeowner

Natasha B. of Pooler, GA became concerned about her home's foundation when she noticed a crack running down the middle of her home. The crack was unsightly and was ripping up her bathroom tile. She also noticed that her home seemed very un-level, and was sinking towards the back end of the home. She realized there was a huge problem, so she called Lowcountry Basement Systems to schedule a free appointment with an inspector.

Lowcountry Basement Systems sent Dan Friesen to Pooler to inspect the foundation. He noticed the common signs of foundation settlement, cracks in the foundation, sticking doors and windows, and unlevel floors. He suggested that Push Piers be installed to level and support the home. Push Piers stabilize your home’s foundation and in many cases can lift your home back to level. Steel pier sections are hydraulically driven through the bracket to bedrock or a stable soil level. Then, the weight of your home is transferred through the piers to the competent soil below, and a lift can be attempted to bring the home back to its original position.

After three days of installation, Natasha noticed the symptoms of settlement were gone. She was very thankful that Lowcountry Basement Systems was able to return her home to the way it was supposed to be.

Tripping Hazard Driveway Fixed in Savannah, GA

This Savannah, GA homeowner was reminded of her driveway problems every time she came home from work. Parts of her concrete driveway had cracks running through it, other sections of the driveway had sunk, creating bumps when she parked her car.

After seeing an ad for Lowcountry Basement Systems concrete repair services in the Savannah Morning News, she called for a free inspection. An inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems recommended fixing the driveway instead of replacing it. PolyLevel could be injected under the driveway to lift the sinking section, eliminating the bump and tripping hazard. PolyLevel foam expands immediately to many times its liquid volume to create a powerful lifting force, and can be driven on in just 15 minutes!

With a level driveway, NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks, was used to seal the remaining cracks in the driveway, and in less than a day her tripping hazard was removed. She was thrilled with the results!
