Sagging Floors Lifted Back Into Place, North Charleston, SC

Meredith G. of North Charleston, SC was experiencing sagging floors about 10 feet long in one of the hallways of her home. The support joists and insulation beneath her floors were beginning to droop, causing her floors to sink along with them.

Meredith was tired of having to always struggle to get around her home, so she called Lowcountry Basement Systems to set up an appointment for a free inspection of her crawl space. Immediately our inspector noticed severe sagging of the wood joists holding up the foundation and floors of her home.

Our inspector informed Meredith of the situation, and showed her the photos and notes that he took while inspecting the crawl space. Meredith’s foundation needed additional support, so we installed our galvanized steel column support SmartJacks, which lift sagging floor joists. After the installation and completion of the project, Meredith noticed a huge difference in her floors, and was thrilled with the outcome. Meredith can now rest easy in her forever home!

Thomas B. of North Charleston, SC was concerned when he noticed a musty odor coming from his crawl space. He has lived in his home for about 35 years, and decided it was time to have his crawl space inspected.

To his own curiosity, he looked in the crawl space and noticed drooping insulation, as well as damp walls and joists. That is when Thomas decided to call Lowcountry Basement Systems to schedule a free inspection.

Our inspector carefully recorded what he saw in the crawl space, and suggested that Thomas encapsulate it with our CleanSpace product to seal the crawl space from outside moisture. We installed a SmartSump to evacuate water from the CleanSpace encapsulation system, and a SaniDry Sedona to maintain the relative humidity in the crawlspace. After two days of installation, Thomas’ crawl space was free of odor, moisture, and unhealthy living conditions. Thomas was thrilled with the result and the professionalism of the team!

Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation in Charleston Crawl Space

Microbial growth was spotted by Charleston homeowner, Mike Hauge. Mike told Lowcountry Basement Systems inspector, Billy Brandenburg, that he noticed the odor when he was upstairs. Mike also told Billy that he was concerned about possible leaks in his subfloor.

Billy inspected Mike’s home for two hours and recommended a custom solution to his problems. First, Billy recommended cleaning out the crawl space, then sealing it off from the earth. Moisture would be collected via drainage matting and pipping, then pumped away from the home via sump pump. The crawl space would be encapsulated with CleanSpace Linear and crawl space vents were sealed. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier would be installed to remove water vapor from the air.

With the prevention and removal of water intrusion, microbial growth could not take place. Mike was happy two weeks later when the odor went away.

Jason recommended sealing off the home from the earth by encapsulating the crawl space. Moisture would be collected via drainage matting and pipping, then pumped away from the home via sump pump. The crawl space would be encapsulated with CleanSpace Linear and crawl space vents were sealed. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier would be installed to remove water vapor from the air.

Mount Valley Home Crawl Space Gets Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System

Billy S. of Mount Pleasant, SC saw an ad in the Post and Courier newspaper for concrete lifting and leveling services and decided to get a free quote on his sinking drive. During the phone call to schedule the appointment, Billy discovered that the company, Lowcountry Basement Systems also encapsulated crawl spaces. Billy asked that his crawl space be looked at too.

Lowcountry Basement Systems sent Jason Ussery to Billy’s home. Jason was able to help Billy with his driveway issue and recommended that he encapsulate his crawl space due to the high moisture content in the air. Jason explained how moisture weakens subfloors, joists, and beams under the home which in turn causes saggy floors, cracks in drywall, sticking windows, and doors.

Billy decided to have Lowcountry Basement Systems install it’s Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System to protect his investment. After the system was installed, Billy was thrilled with the results.

Tripping Hazard Driveway Fixed in Savannah, GA

This Savannah, GA homeowner was reminded of her driveway problems every time she came home from work. Parts of her concrete driveway had cracks running through it, other sections of the driveway had sunk, creating bumps when she parked her car.

After seeing an ad for Lowcountry Basement Systems concrete repair services in the Savannah Morning News, she called for a free inspection. An inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems recommended fixing the driveway instead of replacing it. PolyLevel could be injected under the driveway to lift the sinking section, eliminating the bump and tripping hazard. PolyLevel foam expands immediately to many times its liquid volume to create a powerful lifting force, and can be driven on in just 15 minutes!

With a level driveway, NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks, was used to seal the remaining cracks in the driveway, and in less than a day her tripping hazard was removed. She was thrilled with the results!

Musty, Damp Humid Air Improved by Encapsulating Crawl Space in Mount Pleasant, SC

Betty P. of Mount Pleasant, SC had a lot of moisture in her crawl space which worsened during heavy rains. Her closets smelled musty and damp due to the humid air from the exposed dirt floor seeping in through the subfloor into the house. Betty’s floors were also cold in the winter, which made it uncomfortable in her house. Betty went online to research crawl space problems and solutions and found LowcountryBasement.com.

An inspector visited the home and went in the crawl space. He noted rotted, fallen insulation and some of the wood beams and joists supporting the subfloor were mildewed. Sunken Floors Repaired and Leveled in Charleston, SC

Jane M. of Charleston, SC had floors which sunk all the way from the kitchen to the dining room. Cracks appeared in the walls above doors and the kitchen floor alone dropped an inch! Jane had seen an ad for Lowcountry Basement Systems in Summerville’s Journal Scene and called for a free inspection.

The inspector noted cracks in the brick work of the home and missing and damaged piers that were not properly supporting the beams and joists in the crawl space. A custom solution was put in place to fix Jane’s issues. It was recommended to first install a helical pile to stabilize the area where the foundation sank the deepest. The steel helical piers were mechanically “screwed” into the soil and attached to the foundation footing. The weight of the home was then transferred to the load bearing strata in the ground. SmartJacks were then installed in the crawl space to stabilize specific areas of the main beam and other joists. Once installed, the damaged areas of the subfloor could be repaired.

In just a few days Jane’s floors were lifted and the cracks sealed up on their own. Jane was thrilled!

Crawl Space Encapsulated in Charleston, SC

Darold C. of Charleston, SC called Lowcountry Basement Systems with a problem. His crawl space needed to be encapsulated. Darold had a leak in the wall behind the kitchen drain, which had trapped water between the floor and the subfloor. Darold had seen an ad for Lowcountry Basement Systems’ crawl space repair service and called for a free estimate.

An inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems visited Darold’s home and thoroughly inspected it and the crawl space below. The relative humidity was very high in the crawl space, making it very humid and damp, causing sodden, fallen insulation and rotting, molding wood. The inspector agreed with Darold that encapsulating his basement would be a great solution, and a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System was installed to protect the crawl space from moisture. The final step of the project was adding a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity. In just a few days Darold could rest easy knowing his crawl space was protected from moisture.
