Lowcountry Basement Systems Helps Bluffton, SC Homeowner with Humid Home

Glenn G. of Bluffton, SC had a problem with humidity in his 5,600 sq. ft. home. He noticed musty, mold odors in parts of his home and his air conditioner was working overtime, trying to keep up with the demand for cool dry air. He researched the problem and found Lowcountry Basement Systems.

After meeting with an inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems, Glenn decided to have his crawl space encapsulated to prevent moisture from entering his home and causing the mildew. It would also reduce the wear and tear on his air conditioning unit.

The inspector recommended the installation of a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System to prevent moisture from entering his home. CleanSpace Liner was installed to seal out moisture, a SaniDry CX dehumidifier collected moisture from the air and pumped it to a SmartDrain. The foundation walls were insulated with EverLast Panels. The vents were sealed with CleanSpace Vent Covers and the crawl space door was replaced with an EverLast CrawlSpace Door.

The project took seven days, and the effects were very noticeable right away. Glenn was thrilled!

Flood Insurance Inspires Installation of SmartVents in Beaufort, SC Crawl Space

George M. of Beaufort, SC was concerned about the condition of his home after Hurricane Matthew. He noticed extremely high levels of humidity that never seemed to go away.

However, he was very interested in putting down a vapor barrier. He called Lowcountry Basement Systems because he knew it was going to be a difficult job, “that should be undertaken by professionals.”

Billy Brandenburg, one of Lowcountry Basement Systems’ inspectors, recommended sealing the earth off from the crawl space with Clean Space Linear. Billy also recommended an EverLast Crawl Space Door to seal the crawl space entrance. A SaniDry CX dehumidifier was installed to remove the moisture from the air. Okatie, SC Home with Standing Water in Crawl Space

Ken K. of Okatie, SC received some disturbing news from his property manager. Ken was told that was standing water in his crawl space, directly under the center of his home. Ken was advised to call Lowcountry Basement Systems to help remove and protect his home from moisture.

Ken took the advice and scheduled a free inspection with Lowcountry Basement Systems. The standing water noticed by the pest control company was still there when Brian Townsel of Lowcountry Basement Systems showed up to do the inspection. Brian asked Ken if it was a common issue, or if he just recently noticed it. Ken said water tends to stay there after heavy rains.

Brian recommended Ken protect his house from the moisture. If the subfloor, joists, or main beams absorb water vapor, it would weaken the structure of the house, Brian explained. Ken took Brian’s advice and decided to prevent bigger and more expensive problems in the future by encapsulating his crawl space.
