Getting A Hands-on Learning Experience

Getting A Handson Learning Experience - Image 1

It is not every day that the Lowcountry Basement Systems’ office staff has the opportunity to step into the boots of our installers and see the project at the job site. Whether it be going under a crawl space to install galvanized steel support beams that lift sagging floors, SmartJacks, or eliminating concrete tripping hazards in driveways, sidewalks or pool areas, office employees hear the stories and see the photos, but we don’t always know what it’s like to be there in person.

Two days ago, I was given the opportunity to visit a job site, so I grabbed my camera and ran out the door!

My name is Alexis Polytika and I am the Marketing Assistant for Lowcountry Basement Systems’. I spend many hours a day scrolling through pictures of the finished repairs on homes. I love seeing the before and after images. The transformations are amazing, and the comments we get from happy homeowners let me know that we are making a difference in peoples’ lives. I could not ask for a better place to work. Pictures are worth a thousand words, but I wanted to dive a little deeper and see the action for myself.

My visit to the job site couldn’t have fallen on a more beautiful day. It was a Friday, the sun was shining and the home was located in a beautiful area of Georgia.

The day began with a strategic setup of PolyLevel tools near the sinking concrete pool deck behind the house. Milton Pate, our Concrete Repair Team Leader began to prep the job site. He turned on the generator, a mild humming sound filled the area and electricity ran to the PolyLevel rig. Both parts of the structural grade polymer were warmed. One part was heated to 115 degrees and the other part warmed to 120 degrees.

PolyLevel is a two-part expanding foam that fills void beneath concrete and lifts the area.

I also watched Tyler Kersey, another PolyLevel Team Member, tediously and thoroughly seal the cracks in the concrete with NexusPro. I was amazed by the difference it made for the appearance of the pool deck.

I also got to spend some time with our foundation repair specialists who were there installing SmartJacks in the crawl space to lift the floors that were beginning to sag. Unfortunately, I was not able to take photos in the crawl space, it was just a little too tight. However, the team did a great job! I was able to see the effects of their work inside the home.

I was very proud of my team and can understand why we receive so many compliments on the Better Business Bureau, Angie's List and Google.
